Joe Kemmerling is a musician and multi-instrumentalist based out of the Twin Cities. Joe plays saxophone and keyboard in a variety of bands, spanning genres including rock, blues, funk, and reggae. Joe also has a solo project called Graf in which he writes his own original music on acoustic guitar and piano.
Joe Kemmerling is the leader of the singer/songwriter project, Graf. Graf is Joe's outlet for writing songs of humor and heartbreak. The music spans across genres and delivers heartfelt messages and stories.
Joe joined Lost Island Society on saxophone in 2025. Lost Island Society is a Minneapolis-based ska rock band whose music blends elements of third-wave ska, indie rock, and hints of reggae. The band is known for their tight live performances and high-energy party atmosphere that creates a sense of unity through audience engagement and sharp lyrical themes.
Sam Licari and the Sweet Tease is a project by multi instrumentalist and singer/songwriter, Sam Licari. Sam has blended his love for funk, reggae, and blues, in a unique sound that is all his own. Joe Kemmerling joined the Sweet Tease in 2024 on saxophone and keyboard, venturing into his first reggae-inspired band.
Trent Romens Band is a Blues-Soul-Jam band hailing from the Twin Cities. From his early days as a blues-rock guitar phenom to his current incarnation as a mature player and thoughtful songwriter, Trent Romens has been a mainstay on the midwestern music scene for years. Joe Kemmerling joined the Trent Romens Band in 2023 on bari sax, filling out the band with powerful horn lines and solos.
Rooted in classic rock and blues, Brother Jon Band has a style all of their own. Joe Kemmerling joined the band on keyboard and sax in 2023 and has been touring venues across Minnesota and Wisconsin with Jon since.
Joe is a founding member of Not a Number, a Minnesota based alternative rock band. The band brings together an eclectic mix of influences ranging from late 1960's/early 1970's rock, 90's grunge, 00's alternative, and contemporary alternative rock/funk, creating a collection of unique original music.
Joe joined the Twin Cities Gamer Symphony Orchestra (TCGSO) for the 2025 winter concert on baritone sax. TCGSO is a community orchestra created in 2024 that performs video game music.
Frensz Family Band is a family band! Nobody grew up in the same house, but music brought them together. Frensz Family Band is led by musician Casey Frensz bringing funk, prog rock, and disco to music fans in the Twin Cities. Casey runs Inner Groove Studios in Minneapolis, providing a safe place for creativity and music to thrive. Joe Kemmerling started playing with Casey in 2021, and the two have worked together on numerous projects since.
